Facial veins, hemangiomas, cherry and spider
angiomas are all vascular disorders which cause
red discolorations of the skin. These blood vessel
changes are usually of no medical consequence
but are cosmetically troublesome for some people.
These tiny broken veins may be part of the normal
aging process, sun induced, hereditary, result of
medication or as part of the skin condition known
as rosacea.

Silhouette provides a safe and effective treatment to help eliminate these
conditions using Coherent's VersaPulse laser. Prior the advent of laser therapy
people with these vascular conditions had to live with them - or risk scarring with
older surgical procedures such as electric cautery. In some instances broken
capillaries can be treated using IPL/Photorejuvenation.

When facial veins are treated with a laser, the laser light is absorbed into the
blood cells, passing harmlessly through the top epidermis layer of the skin
leaving it intact. When the laser energy is absorbed into the targeted red blood
cells, it causes shrinkage and coagulation of the vessels. This leaves the vessel
walls unsupported, causing them to collapse. During the healing process, the
blood vessels dissolve and are eliminated.

During your complimentary vein consultation, we will assess the veins you wish
to have treated. The number of treatment sessions depends on the size, location
and depth of the veins. Usually 2 or 3 treatments are needed 4-6 weeks apart.
During your consultation we will be able to design a treatment plan, which is
specific to your individual skin condition. Treatments begin at $200 per session.

Following each session the treated area will have some redness and localized
swelling. Depending on the size of the area treated this will resolve in 1-3 days.
Ice packs are used to help relieve any discomfort. Potential side effects with the
VersaPulse are rare and include blistering, crusting, scabbing, scarring and
hypo/hyperpigmentation (lightening or darkening) of the skin. Immediately
following the procedure you may apply makeup. Everyone is required to avoid
direct sun exposure to the area and wear a sunblock of at least 45 SPF for 2
weeks following each session.
